At approximately 1:35pm on Sunday, August 1st, 2010, the seven Dawn Patrol swimmers rounded the corner of the Long Beach Marina and sprinted across the bay to the sea wall in front of the Long Beach Yacht Club.  There, along the wall were 400+ family, friends and supporters cheering them on at the end of their 28 mile journey from Catalina Island.  Young children jumped into the water from the wall to celebrate the final 100 yards of THE SWIM 2010 as the flotilla of support boats ushered them home.  Long Beach Lifeguard boats sprayed water 50 feet in the air and the crowd cheered as the swimmers climbed out of the water, safe on dry land after their 14 hour journey.  It was a truly emotional experience for everyone lucky enough to witness the event!

The Long Beach Press Telegram was onsite to cover the event and THE SWIM 2010 was front page news on Monday, August 2, 2010.  The swimmers’ families presented them with white Dawn Patrol robes and medals to go around their necks and the party moved up on to the LBYC pool deck where everyone enjoyed swimming, great food, and live entertainment including the DJ services of Art The DJ, John George The Magician, face painting and balloon art, and the awesome sounds of The Long Beach Caravan Trio and The Eggmen, the most amazing Beatles Tribute Band you will ever see.
